Business is also a social undertaking and as such, we do not want the effects of closure to adversely affect others in the business chain. We only want to collect the correct taxes, nothing more beyond that.”

“We do not feel good closing all these establishments considering the hard times. We offered all the help we can give to enable them to settle their dues. However, when they failed to refute our findings or to rectify their tax violations, they gave us no choice at all. Closure is the last thing we have in mind but we will have to do it when the call of duty beckons,” Esquivias said.
