“This is not about closing businesses and depriving people of gainful employment. This is all about complying with the provisions of the Tax Code and paying the right taxes due to the government.” - Assistant Regional Director Eduardo L. Pagulayan, Jr.

August 25,2009, Tuesday, between 8:30- 9:00 o’clock in the morning, the once serene ambiance of Capiz Province, was suddenly disturbed by the simultaneous live radio and television broadcast of the unexpected closure of three (3) popular business establishments in Roxas City . It came as a surprise and people got mixed reaction on what seems to be an alien invasion made by the Bureau of Internal Revenue. Even the invited Media men and the Police Escorts who came to witness the field operation were caught off-guard when they came face-to-face with “OPLAN KANDADO”.
An article by Jun Ramirez in Manila Bulletin:
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) said on Thursday donations to flood victims are exempted from paying donor’s tax only if they are coursed to qualified government and private charitable institutions.
